Welcome to Building Bridges
the newsletter of Prison Action Network
We will send it to your email address each month
if you tell us why you're interested.

During the month we may post time sensitive news, so stop by now and then.

Posted Nov 18: Save the Date: Justice Long Overdue

On Thursday, December 6th, join us for an important discussion on life sentences, parole release measures, and the success of formerly incarcerated people released after decades in prison.

The event will highlight important decarceration initiatives in Maryland and New York, and will be co-hosted by RAPP, the Justice Policy Initiative, Osborne Association, Columbia Center for Justice, Riverside Church Prison Ministry, and Columbia Justice Lab.

More details as PAN receives it.

Posted 11/18. New York State Parole Interview Feedback Form
In collaboration with the Parole Preparation Project, we are launching theNew York State Parole Interview Feedback Form to promote more community oversight and feedback of the Parole Board.
The form is specifically for family members and friends of incarcerated people. We want those connected to parole applicants in NYS prisons to have an easy way of accounting their loved ones' experiences with the Parole Board. We want to know what happened during someone's parole interview; which Commissioners were present and what questions did they ask; and whether or not the Commissioners followed the law when making their decision.
Please fill out the form if it applies to you or your loved one, and share it with anyone who you think might be interested. We will use the feedback we acquire in our advocacy efforts, including by sharing it with key policymakers, the media and other influential parties.
